IT’S ALL OVER :-(
Unfortunately, the 3 peaks challenge for the Crabtree Hillbillies has ended a peak short.
As you will have seen from the previous post, we were already down two walkers, and unfortunately, on the way back from the summit of Scaffel Pike, Rob was eaten. Not really! David M sadly sustained a knee strain (not serious now that he is down) but it was too much for him to complete the task and had to be assisted down the hill be one of the mountain guides. He’s fine so no need to worry – nothing that a good rest and some ice wont fix.
Clearly everyone is devastated and no-one is at fault. Injuries or not, the timescales the guys had meant they could not safely complete the walk up Snowdon so the extremely tough decision was taken to abandon the attempt after Scaffel Pike in the interests of everyone’s safety. What with two groin injuries and a knee sprain, it was simply not possible to complete the task safely (given that the remaining two walkers (for which they would not be allowed out as two) would have had to walk up Snowdon in the dark).
We’re on our way back now – it’s approx 15.30 hrs and we hope to be back by around 2100 hrs.
Everyone here has had a great time and we have really enjoyed it. The team spirit has been fantastic and we are determined to come back and complete Snowdon so that all 3 peaks will have been walked.
Given that this log is being written at around 70 on the A66 I’m going to leave it there.
It’s been hard work, tiring, smelly, dirty, fattening, long but most of all – great fun. Thank you to everyone that sponsored us – we’ll update you on the final figure but last time I checked we had raised £6,850 for the British Red Cross, who are of course, the real winners.
Take care
David.

Sorry about the injuries. Well Done just the same. I am sure that you now recognise that exercising your arm in the pub on a Friday evening is not sufficient preparation. Your "Guardian Angel" is on her way to your office. Before you even contemplate climbimg Snowden please listen to her advice.
No doubt you will feel disappointed not to complete due to the injuries, but it really is a fantastic achievement to have completed what you did. You should all be very proud of the money that you have raised - very impressive.
Boab - we are both really looking forward to seeing all the family and hearing your war stories first hand on Friday. Shall we break out the winebox?
Very proud of you.
Catch up at the weekend.
Morven and Bryan

The kids (Ellie and Craig not Patrick and John) woke me up this morning at 7.00am.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to David, Elaine and Sue for all of their hard work over the weekend. They were brilliant.
I am definately up for having another crack at it again next year.
